H. D. Smith - HF/UHF Conveyor

Business issues
- The implementation of RFID track and trace on a tote-based inline conveyor for the pharmaceutical distribution industry.
- Reading products with HF and UHF RFID tags that were randomly placed into the shipping tote.
Solution
A variable speed conveyor was build with a HF tunnel inside a UHF tunnel. The antenna design, modeling and placement was completed by Signaling Scientific. HF equipment from FEIG Electronics and UHF from Motorola were selected for the conveyor. The base conveyor system was engineered and built by Veripak Products. Franwell provided the final design, assembly, build out, software and installation of the conveyor system.
Benefits
- Reduced QC time during the receiving and shipping process.
- Improved inventory tracking by interfacing with ePedigree systems and reduction of shipping and receiving errors.
